Change & New Perspectives at FAMU: A Look at their new 360/VR Lab

FAMU ThingLink 360/VR Lab
by L.Michelle Salvant and Dr. Kelley Bailey

Wow! What a semester! At Florida A&M University, it’s been all about change and seeing things from a whole new perspective. For starters, we have a new president, this semester Dr. Larry Robinson became the 12th president of the University. Go Rattlers! We also have a new Head Football Coach, Willie Simmons, who had been away from the city for about 20-years, and has happily returned to make an impact on a field he calls “home.” Change and new perspectives has also made a difference in how we view things at FAMU, especially when it comes to using Virtual Reality/360 technology. Focusing the Spotlight: Creating Student Showcases With ThingLink 360/VR

by Andy Fehnel

If your experience as an educator is anything like mine, then you find yourself blown away by the creative abilities of your students on a regular basis. Their ability to create and problem solve when given the proper guidance and tools keeps me motivated to give them my very best every day. The problem I always run into is how to display student work in a meaningful way so that people outside the classroom can appreciate it as well. This problem is especially poignant with digital projects. Yes, websites or blogs can serve as a tool for displaying student work, but where is the creativity and meaning in clicking on a few dozen links to see what students have created? I wanted something more interactive and enjoyable and ThingLink 360/VR answered the call perfectly.

BIG SAVINGS FOR NEW PREMIUM OR PRO CUSTOMERS IN DECEMBER

At ThingLink, one of our most important goals is to provide a safe and engaging experience for students. For this reason, we provide educators with the ability to manage student accounts and assume responsibility for overseeing safe use, guided by school and district policies. Our Free Teacher accounts are designed for anyone to easily try ThingLink, which means Free users do not provide us with information to verify their identities as educators.

As a result, free teacher account holders will no longer be able to register or manage students starting December 15th, 2017.  To keep students safe, they will need an invitation code from a paid teacher in order to create with ThingLink.

ACT FAST FOR INCREDIBLE SAVINGS

The good news is that we are offering big discounts to make this transition a bit easier and to ensure that you can continue creating with students on ThingLink. To keep things running smoothly, we are offering two upgrade options:
